João Pedro Gouveia invited speaker to the CAIC24 | Climate Alliance International Conference (10th October 2024).

How can we shape liveable cities for the future? How can we ensure social justice and a good life for all? How can municipalities make use of what nature teaches us? Resilience is the key! We need to adapt to our changing environment and work towards robust regions, cities and towns if we want to secure a better future for all. In the process, we must understand resilience as a cross-cutting goal – as much about the ability to adapt to the environmental effects of the climate crisis as to the accompanying social, economic and political upheaval.

The 2024 Climate Alliance International Conference will focus on what regions, cities and towns can do to boost resilience locally. This will include nature-based solutions, the fight against energy poverty, the use of data for sustainable municipal planning and more. Together with municipalities from across Europe, we want to develop a vision for our cities and towns. Participants can immerse themselves in interactive workshops, present their experiences and success stories, and exchange ideas with colleagues and other local climate action stakeholders.

The 2024 Climate Alliance International Conference is organised by Climate Alliance member Cascais (PT) and Climate Alliance Europe.

João Pedro took part in the workshop "Addressing energy poverty locally with community-led solutions" (at Casa das Histórias Paula Rego)
This workshop, brought to you by the Covenant of Mayors, the Energy Poverty Advisory Hub and the JUST-PEPP project, will showcase the different phases of energy poverty, illustrated by real-world examples. Get in on the discussion and dive into the use of indicators, explore potential solutions, touching upon specific examples of one-stop shops, energy communities, and financing mechanisms!
